The 48th WorldSkills Competition

Often referred to as the “Olympics of Skills,” the WorldSkills Competition is the highest-profile and most influential vocational skills event globally, which held every two years. The 48th WorldSkills Competition will be held in Shanghai, China from 22 to 27 September 2026. The event will feature 1,400 competitors from 70 countries and regions. Competitors will showcase their expertise in over 60 skills across six major categories:

  • Manufacturing and Engineering Technology
  • Transportation and Logistics
  • Social and Personal Services
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Construction and Building Technology
  • Creative Arts and Fashion.

Empowering Three Major Skill Categories with Hardware and Software

For the upcoming WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 competition, SHINING 3D's technological support extends deeply into three core categories: Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Transportation and Logistics, and Social and Personal Services.

From 3D measurement and rapid modeling of complex mechanical components to high-precision inspection of aircraft sheet metal parts, and digital design for dental restorations, high-accuracy 3D scanning technology has become an indispensable backbone for these competition workflows.

Beyond improving operational precision and efficiency, 3D scanning is driving digital transformation by acting as a "universal language" that bridges multiple skill domains and demonstrates immense value across a wide range of applications in various industries.

Digital Inspection Enabling Fair and Objective Evaluation

Notably, SHINING3D Inspect, our PTB-certified industrial 3D inspection software, has been officially adopted as a scoring and evaluation tool for several skill competitions. By automatically comparing the 3D scan data of competitor’s workpieces with standard CAD models, the software generates intuitive color deviation maps and detailed dimensional reports. This provides judges with an objective, quantified, and traceable basis for evaluation.

By introducing digital inspection into the judging process, the system significantly enhances the fairness, transparency, and standardization of competition scoring, elevating the measurement of skills to a new level of digital heights.

An Evolving Partnership:

From Equipment Supporter to Skill Innovator

SHINING 3D's collaboration with WorldSkills has been a journey of continuous growth and deepening integration. Starting as an Equipment Supporter since 2019, SHINING 3D is proudly become a Global Industry Partner of WorldSkills International in 2024, and in 2025, we proposed the “Dental Prosthetics” skill competition is successfully recognized as an Official Skill for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. Through this progression, SHINING 3D has evolved from a technology provider supporting competitions to an active contributor shaping emerging skill pathways.

WorldSKills

Building on this expanded role, SHINING 3D continues to explore new and high-value skill sectors alongside WorldSkills to ensure training standards keep pace with industry advancements. This initiatives include leveraging 3D scanning for the digital design and manufacturing of prosthetics and orthotics in the rehabilitation field, as well as the digital archiving and recreation of cultural artifacts in Creative Arts and Fashion.

Bridging Talent and Industry for a Digital Future

The significance of the WorldSkills Competition extends far beyond medals and rankings. As its core, the event serves as a vital bridge connecting talent cultivation with industrial development. SHINING 3D's core mission in empowering WorldSkills is to integrate cutting-edge technology and real-world industry applications into global vocational education. By co-establishing training bases, facilitating joint instructor training, and developing educational resources, we have built a comprehensive framework for translating WorldSkills standards into everyday teaching to nurture highly skilled professionals who are ready for real-world industrial demands.

As global attention turns to Shanghai in 2026, we look forward to using this grand stage to further popularize 3D scanning and digital technologies, inspiring more young people to explore their potential in vocational skills. Together with partners worldwide, SHINING 3D remains committed to empowering talent development and contributing new digital momentum to the future of industry.
