SHINING 3D has received international recognition at the Red Dot Award 2026, with its FreeScan Omni distinguished for excellence in industrial design. The achievement highlights SHINING 3D’s ability to merge advanced metrology performance with thoughtful industrial design.
The Red Dot Award is among the most respected global design competitions, evaluating entries based on criteria such as innovation, functionality, ergonomics, and overall design quality. Each year, an independent panel of experts reviews submissions from around the world, selecting only those products that meet the highest standards.
FreeScan Omni is celebrated as the world's first standalone, inspection-ready metrology 3D scanner. Designed for "inspection on the move," the device features onboard computing and a scalable architecture that enables high-performance scanning and inspection directly on the device, eliminating the need for external power cords or data cables.
Engineered for the shop floor and demanding environments, FreeScan Omni offers certified metrology-grade accuracy of 0.02 mm, verified according to VDI/VDE 2634 and ISO 10360 standards. Its advanced features include:
-
On-Scanner Inspection
-
Video Photogrammetry (VPG)
-
AI Feature Recognition
-
Multiple Scanning Modes for Industrial Usage

WIth all these features, FreeScan Omni has already garnered significant praise from metrology professionals. Antonio Weixler, Project Engineer at KE-TEC GmbH, noted that being able to operate fully without a PC while maintaining workstation-level performance is essential for agility. Timmy Schramm from OKM 3D highlighted its "true wireless scanning" as ideal for fieldwork and hard-to-access environments
“This is the fourth product in recent years to receive a Red Dot Award for us. Such sustained recognition further demonstrates that we are not only committed to meeting technical requirements in product development, but are also deeply focused on user experience. Through continuous refinement in design, we aim to consistently deliver greater value to our customers", said Sunny
