As the pandemic of novel Coronavirus spreads over the globe, we are witnessing more countries implementing travel restrictions, social distancing measures, and work from home policies. Numerous countries are seeing their healthcare systems overloaded by COVID-19.

The 3D printing community has already begun to respond to the global crisis by providing their respective skills to ease the pressure on healthcare product supply during this unusual time. 3D Scanning and 3D Printing Technologies have begun to play an important role in the design, replication and production of medical equipment. 3D Scanning enables the creation of a digital copy of parts which can be customized via Intelligent Design and then printed out with different types of 3D printing technologies, based on the requirement of the device.

As an active member of the 3D printing community, SHINING 3D is striving to help anyone who’s in need of medical equiments by providing professional 3D technologies, such as printing 55 Pairs of Goggles During One-time Production using EP-A800 Resin 3D Printer, complete production of infrared forehead thermometer via High-precision 3D scanning and 3D printing. Recently, SHINING 3D has been printing 1000 sets of face shields to assist in the fight against Covid. As of April 23, all 1,000 sets of face shields, 2,000 mask buckles, and 3,000 masks have been shipped to destinations worldwide.

SHINING 3D is in Action

Step 1. Use EinScan Pro 2X Plus to scan face.

Step 2. Use Solid Edge SHINING3D Edition to design the mask from the face scan data. The final design includes a contoured face mask and a filter housing cover.

*Note: The personalized design mask seems to give a quicker solution in urgent need of face masks, but it is not a replacement of medical masks, and has not been tested for effectiveness in preventing COVID-19. We want to make clear that our goal is to develop solutions by 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies, and encourage professionals to use their skills and equipment to make a contribution to society.
